All children in KS2 learn French and spend approx. 45 minutes per week on French. This has become a compulsory subject since the start of September 2014.Learning a language provides an opening to other cultures. The focus is initially on speaking and listening, developing confidence and multicultural understanding. All Year 6 children are invited to participate in a residential visit to Normandy, France. They visit various different locations which helps widen their knowledge of the area. They also correspond with penfriends in our partner school in Brittany and get to spend a few hours with them during the visit to France. Speaking French is encouraged during the whole trip.

Our partnership with Ste. Jeanne d'Arc began in 2007. We have worked together very successfully on our Comenius project, "Together against waste". We established a residential visit for our Year 6 children in 2009. This continues to date.
