ART - How can you help your child……..
During the course of the year your child will get the opportunity to explore different mediums and to explore their ideas own ideas.
Please look at the curriculum map for your child’s year group to see what they will be doing in Art.
The best way to help a child explore is let them have a go.
Younger children benefit from painting on larger paper using larger brushes or they could use sponges and their hands to paint. If you want to add texture you can mix flour or sand into poster paint.
Potato prints are great fun.
For 3D work use play-dough, or you can make your own salt dough. Recipe to follow!
Older children can begin to use finer brushes, pastels and a range of paints from poster to acrylics. For drawing a range of soft and hard pencils with a soft rubber can be used.
We do have a lovely art gallery in Chichester that you can visit.
The key to developing art skills is letting children try it out and of course there is no one way to do it!
