Eco Warriors Mission Statement
Our beautiful world, community and school are all important to us. At St Richards Catholic Primary School we are on a mission to make sure that we keep the environment around us clean and tidy. We care deeply for God’s creatures and want to ensure our school grounds are well kept, litter free and sustainable. We also strive that as a school we are energy efficient, by turning lights off, making sure water is not wasted and that we don't waste resources, especially paper.
Two Eco Warriors are chosen from each year group throughout the school, from Reception to Year 6. They meet each half term with Eco Leader Mrs Judge and Mrs McGreal to discuss how they can make our school a more eco-friendly place. They are also invited to take part in an Eco Club which meets weekly in the Autumn 2 term and the Summer 1 term. The Eco Club agenda varies each time. It is guided by the children and has had lots of different focuses: selling recycled, handmade Christmas decorations, making a bee garden, bird boxes, planting bulbs, gardening and pond dipping to name a few.

Go Plastic-Free! Our aims for 2019-2020
This academic year (2019-2020) the Eco Warriors wanted to concentrate on becoming a single-plastic free school. There are several steps to help make this happen and Eco Warriors have been working carefully to educate and communicate these to their school community. We have been working closely with the charity Surfers Against Sewage to help us accomplish our goals
