Pirate Boat Investigation
The pirate needs help with finding a boat shape they can travel across the seas in. They need a boat that will not sink so they don’t loose all their special treasure they have found from the desert island. Use different resources you have at home to make a boat.
Can you help the pirates?
During our topic we are thinking about different materials and how we can look after our planet by recycling. There are lots of different ways we can help our environment and recycle, many of you recycled to make your pirate boat!
Have a look around your home, is there anything that you aren’t going to use again that can be recycled?
How would we recycle it correctly?
Can you make something else out of the material?
Think about the properties of the materials, what could they be recycled into?
Can you teach others how they can look after our planet?
This week we are thinking about the Ocean habitat, animals that live in the ocean and what they need to survive. Using the video and PowerPoint create a poster showing how these animals are suited to their ocean habitat.
Where do they get their food from? What do they eat?
What helps them to survive in the ocean and in water?
How do they move around their habitat?
Are they herbivore, omnivore or carnivore?
Animals that live in the Ocean
This week choose one animal that lives in the ocean that you might like to find out more about.
Pick one animal from the ocean, what interesting facts can you find out about that animal.
Label the different parts of their body.
What helps them move around the ocean?
What type of animal are they? Are they a fish or mammal?
How are they different to animals in the ocean?
This week we are thinking about animals and their offsprings.
Cut out the animals and match them to their offsprings.
How are the animals different to their offspring?
We are going to be focusing on plants and materials over this half term.
We are going to be creating a bean/planting diary.
This week plant a bean/ flower/ seeds in a plant pot.
What will you need to put in it?
Where will you put it?
If you are unable to plant anything, watch Mrs Bhutta’s video of her planting seeds.
Complete the first week of the bean diary.
Over the weeks watch how your plant grows.
Measure how much it has grown each week and document it in your diary.
Use the PowerPoint to help.
Remember to keep watering it!
Do you know what seeds need in order to grow? I will be taking photographs daily to show you how these seeds grow with a little water and sunshine. Can't wai...
This week we are thinking about the different parts of a plant.
Look at the seeds you planted last week, or Mrs Bhutta’s cress seeds, what has changed?
Fill in week 2 of your plant diary, adding a picture and your observations.
Watch the bitesize video to learn about the different parts of a plant and then see if you can label a picture of a plant.
